Zurich Interaction Seminar: Ecology & Evolution

logoSmall

The seminar will resume on Monday, February 25th, at 17:30 on the Irchel Campus.

About the seminar

The seminar is mostly aimed at "Zürcher Volk" to get to know the work of the other young researchers in and around Zurich. The aim of the seminar is less to present past results, but rather to focus on describing our projects and interests to each other and in which direction we are looking to move forward with them. We welcome people at the master and PhD level, and from all fields of ecology and evolution to attend, be you anything from an aquatic mycologist to a theoretical ecologist, and it is a unique chance to get to know both each other and each others research in a friendly, relaxed and informal setting. We usually do not accept people with no biological background (contact the organizers if you want more information). In addition, in order to stimulate interactions between the two universities, the seminar is held alternately between the University of Zürich and the ETH Zürich. Next spring semester, the seminar will be hosted by the University of Zurich.

DATE & TIME The series starts on Monday, February 25th, at 17:30. It takes place on Monday every second week.

PLACE Irchel Campus; Y34-J-01.

CREDIT POINTS The interaction seminar can be found in the ETH course catalogue as a semester course (Experimental Ecology: Evolution and Ecology). This means that there is a possibility to obtain the credit points for the course (2 ECTS for ETH students; usually 1 ECTS for University students in the PhD program in Ecology). The official requirements are that "a student must attend at least five sessions and give a presentation".

IMPORTANT: we do NOT give marks during this course; this is important since some departments do require marks to grant credit points for a course, especially to 4-5th year students. Please check those requirements with your own department as you might not be allowed to claim credit points for this course.

REGISTRATION We grant the credit points through the ETH course system, and that is why it is crucial that you register at myStudies for the course Experimental Ecology: Evolution and Ecology, number 551-0740-00L. If you have problems with the registration, please contact us (see below).

Note for University students: the Zurich Interaction Seminar is officially registered in the PhD program in Ecology under the sweet name of ECO401.

REFRESHMENTS We provide snacks and beer ourselves, but we ask for small donations to keep the amber nectar flowing.
